Streaming Video On Demand: Not just for PCs.

IP delivered Video On Demand (VOD) has experienced tremendous growth in the last 12-18 months. From YouTube to 'catch-up' services of traditional broadcast television, VOD is fast becoming the preferred method of video delivery for an entire generation.

Despite its beginnings being strictly limited to a PC and browser, streaming VOD is fast taking its place alongside broadcast TV and optical media as a source of content in the living room. No longer tied to a single user PC environment, web based video becomes a 'first class citizen' and a viable target platform for those seeking new revenue streams for existing content.

Noisy Media specialise in the creation and customisation of applications for leading streaming media platforms:

  • Boxee - Combining social networking and streaming video direct to TV
  • Google TV - Due late 2010. Testing now.
  • XBMC - Perfect for custom and/or controlled devices
Whether you have an existing streaming video service you are looking to bring beyond the browser or creating an entirely new IP delivered service specifically for the loungeroom, Noisy Media is able to help you bring your service to a wider, demographically diverse audience.

Same Content. New audience.

TV The idea of free streaming video, delivered on demand, straight to televisions without any formal ratings system has many content providers worried. Surely this would eat into traditional ratings or sales?

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Providing an official VOD source for you content puts the control squarely back in your hands. Not only do you avoid the problems caused by time shifting and ad skipping, but you gain the ability to closely track the number of views in addition to gaining valuable demographic data.

Browser vs TV

Whilst VOD streaming services have become prevalent over the past 12 months, these are largely limited to browser based playback (Particularly withinin Australia). Whilst this has been well received by audiences, it remains only the tip of the iceberg. The potential browser based audience remains significantly lower than that who's sole platform remains television. Being able to provide the best of both worlds, all the advantages of modern VOD delivered via a mature and high penetration interface, allows the same content to be delivered the the maximum possible audience.
